Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

NightFast ("NightFast", "we", "us") is an iPhone app that helps people reduce late-night snacking. This policy explains what information the app and this website handle, why, and the choices you have. For questions, email cybertec44@yahoo.com.

2. Information we collect and why

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, browsing history, or advertising identifier.

3. Data stored on your device

NightFast stores your personal content locally using Apple's on-device database. That content includes your food log, check-ins, streaks, triggers, schedules and settings. Widgets read a small summary (for example your streak and night window) through a private App Group container on your device. Deleting the app deletes this data from your device.

4. iCloud

If your iPhone is signed in to iCloud and iCloud is available, NightFast may store a copy of your app data in your own private iCloud database so it can be restored or used on your other devices. Apple operates iCloud, and the data sits in your private iCloud space. We cannot see or access it. You can turn this off at any time in the iPhone Settings app → your name → iCloud. If iCloud is unavailable, NightFast keeps working with on-device storage only.

5. Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is optional and off until you allow it. If you allow it:

• Write: NightFast can save nutrition you log to Health: dietary energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, sugar, sodium and caffeine.
• Read: NightFast can read sleep analysis to show how late eating relates to your rest.

Health data is processed on your device. We do not send it to our servers, analytics, food databases or any third party, and we never use it for advertising or marketing. Health data is not sold or shared for any purpose other than providing these features to you. You can change or revoke access at any time in the Health app → Sharing → Apps → NightFast.

6. Food search and barcode lookups

To find nutrition information, NightFast sends only the text you search for, or the barcode number you scan, to one or more of these public food databases:

• USDA FoodData Central (U.S. Department of Agriculture)
• Open Food Facts (an open, non-profit database)
• Nutritionix (when enabled)

These requests do not include your name, email, food log or health data. Like any internet request, the provider can see your device's IP address. Each provider's own privacy policy applies to its service. Manual entry and Quick Log work without these lookups.

7. Anonymous analytics

We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. It receives anonymous usage signals, for example "craving timer started", "paywall shown", app version, iOS version and device type. TelemetryDeck uses a hashed, anonymized identifier and is designed not to collect personal data. Analytics never include your food entries, health data, name, email or IP-based location. We use these signals only in aggregate to improve NightFast. We do not use them to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

8. Purchases and subscriptions

All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your card number or billing address. Apple tells the app which products you own so we can unlock NightFast Pro. Apple's privacy policy governs payment data. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in the iPhone Settings app → your name → Subscriptions.

9. Device permissions

• Camera: to scan barcodes and, where offered, to take a food photo. Barcode scanning happens on your device, and only the barcode number is looked up (Section 6).
• Photo library: only if you choose to attach a food photo. We access only the photo you pick, and it stays on your device.
• Notifications: to deliver night prompts, reminders and recaps (Section 10).

Every permission is optional. You can change any of them in the iPhone Settings app → NightFast.

10. Notifications, widgets and Siri

Night prompts, meal reminders, the craving-timer alert, the morning check-in and the Sunday recap are scheduled locally on your iPhone. They do not come from our servers. Live Activities, widgets, the Control Center button and Siri shortcuts run on your device. When you use Siri, Apple processes your voice request under Apple's privacy policy.

11. Sign in with Apple

Where NightFast offers Sign in with Apple, it's optional and you can always continue as a guest. If you use it, Apple shares a private user identifier and, if you choose, your name and an email address. You can choose to hide your real email using Apple's relay. We use this only to identify your account on your devices. We do not use it for marketing emails. You can stop using Sign in with Apple at any time in the iPhone Settings app → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple.

12. Who we share data with

We share only what's described above, with these service providers:

• Apple: App Store purchases, iCloud (your private database), Apple Health, Sign in with Apple, Siri and crash diagnostics you choose to share with developers.
• TelemetryDeck: anonymous usage analytics.
• Food databases (USDA, Open Food Facts, Nutritionix): search text and barcode numbers only.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users or others. Because we hold almost no personal data, there is very little we could disclose. If NightFast is ever transferred to a new owner, this policy will continue to apply to information collected under it.

13. What we never do

• Sell or rent your personal information
• Show ads or share data with advertisers or data brokers
• Track you across other apps and websites (we don't use Apple's advertising identifier)
• Use Apple Health data for anything other than the features you turned on

14. Retention and deletion

Your app data stays on your device, and in your iCloud if enabled, until you delete it. To delete it:

1. Delete NightFast from your iPhone. This removes on-device data.
2. To remove the iCloud copy, open the iPhone Settings app → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, then delete NightFast's data.
3. To remove Health entries NightFast wrote, open the Health app → your profile → Apps → NightFast → delete data.

Anonymous analytics are kept in aggregate by TelemetryDeck and are not linked to you. If you email us, we keep the conversation only as long as needed to help you, then delete it on request.

15. Security

Your data is protected by iOS security, including device encryption when your iPhone has a passcode. Data in transit to food databases and analytics uses encrypted HTTPS connections. iCloud data is protected by Apple. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, so keep your device protected with a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID.

16. Your rights

You control your data directly on your device: you can view, edit or delete any entry in the app at any time. You can also email us to ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. In practice, that's usually only emails you've sent us. We'll respond within 30 days, and we won't discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

17. U.S. state privacy rights (including California)

Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws have rights to know, access, correct and delete personal information, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for targeted advertising. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we don't use it for targeted advertising. Some states treat health-related data as sensitive. We use it only to provide the features you request, never for profiling or advertising. To make a request, email us. An authorized agent may also make a request on your behalf with your written permission.

18. EEA, UK and Swiss users

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process the limited data described here on these legal bases:

• Contract: to provide the app and your purchases.
• Consent: for Apple Health and optional permissions. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests: anonymous analytics to improve the app, and answering support emails.

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us first and we'll help.

19. Children

NightFast is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets a higher age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. NightFast is a habit-support tool and is not intended for anyone with, or recovering from, an eating disorder. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we will delete it.

20. This website

nightfast.tech is a simple static website. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies and loads no third-party trackers. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the site securely. If you use the support form, it opens your own email app, and we receive only what you choose to send.

21. International transfers

Our service providers may process the limited data described here in the United States and other countries. Where required, they use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.

22. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date above. If a change is significant, for example a new kind of data leaving your device, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect and ask for consent where required.
